Our latest writing topic is instructions!
Today we talked about why we have instructions and the things they help us to do. We discussed different kinds of instructions and identified their features.
We then had a go at following some instructions to make some cloud dough!
We followed the instructions carefully and most of us managed to make some fluffy cloud dough! We talked about the importance of reading instructions first to make sure that we know exactly what we are doing.
Here are the instructions for cloud dough in case you would like to have a go at home- https://www.thebestideasforkids.com/cloud-dough/ .
We hope you have as much fun as we did! 😀
The children have all settled into Year 2 brilliantly! They have been working really hard and we have given out lots of house points already! We have also been competing for our class trophy!
Our text this half term is ‘We’re All Wonders’ by RJ Palacio. We have been learning all about the character Auggie and how he is unique. We have practised reading and acting out the story in our best performance voices. Next we will be writing our own version of the story using our own unique characters.
We have also been learning all about the Great Fire of London. We talked about the differences between life now and in 1666. We even had a go at being firefighters from the past and carrying buckets of water across our own London Bridge to put out the fire!
Google Classroom is now working and our first set of homework and spellings go live today! If you are struggling to get on to google classroom or complete the homework please let me know and I will help in any way that I can!
